Dogs 4 Independence offers a unique program that aims to harness and nurture a reciprocal relationship between the child and dog to assist emotional regulation, thus calming the child in their daily lives and encourage modelling.

This program is designed to be flexible to each person’s needs and experience levels. Available with optional video and/or phone support regardless of location with your assigned trainer to guide you through the program. Local residents have the additional option of in-home support and group activities.

Therapeutic animals for the purpose of Dogs 4 Independence is to provide comfort and assist in daily living task. Specialising in Autism therapy dogs but also providing therapy dogs to assist with depression, isolation, anxiety and sensory needs to anyone of any age or location.

Animals can assist children with Autism develop social skills, empathy skills, relationships, encourage routines and stress management skills. The natural effect of the animal helps regulate behaviour responses in children.

The best outcomes are achieved when the family works in unison with the trainer. This initially entails spending additional time training, encouraging the child and dog to bond and form a beneficial relationship.

*Disclaimer - Therapeutic dogs are not Assistance dogs. The distinguishing feature is that Assistance dogs are granted access to public places.
Children should not be left unsupervised with any dogs. Dogs are not baby sitters.
